San Francisco, May 11, 2025 — At its annual Config conference today, Figma unveiled four new products designed to close gaps in its creative software suite, enabling product teams to execute end-to-end workflows without relying on third-party tools. The releases—spanning website development, AI-assisted coding, brand marketing, and digital illustration—mark Figma’s boldest push yet to dominate the integrated design platform space.
Closing the Workflow Gaps
While Figma’s existing tools (Figma Design, Slides, and FigJam) excel at prototyping and collaboration, users still needed external services like WordPress for live websites or Adobe Illustrator for scalable brand assets. The new offerings aim to eliminate these dependencies:
Figma Sites: A website builder integrated with Figma Design, allowing seamless conversion of projects into functional sites. It features preset layouts, templates, and AI-powered code generation (e.g., turning prompts like “Make text float like feathers” into interactive elements). A beta is now available for all seat holders, with AI code tools launching in weeks and a content management system (CMS) arriving later this year.
Figma Make: An AI coding assistant leveraging Anthropic’s Claude 3.7 model. It generates working prototypes (e.g., a music player with animated vinyl discs) from text descriptions or existing designs. Users can refine outputs via manual edits or additional AI prompts. Currently in beta, Figma is exploring integrations with third-party design systems.
Figma Buzz: A Canva-like marketing tool for creating brand-approved templates (emails, social posts, ads) with generative AI for image editing and batch asset creation from spreadsheets. Now in open beta.
Figma Draw: A lightweight vector design app offering brushes, textures, and editing tools for logos and illustrations. Available as a toggle within Figma Design, it positions Figma as a direct competitor to Adobe Illustrator—a notable shift after Adobe’s failed $20 billion acquisition bid in 2023 due to antitrust concerns.
Strategic Implications
The launch signals Figma’s ambition to own the entire product design lifecycle. “These tools reduce friction for teams who want to stay within our ecosystem,” said CEO Dylan Field during the keynote. Analysts note the move intensifies competition with Adobe and no-code platforms like Webflow.
