Former President Donald Trump’s blog, launched last month as a platform for his statements after his ban from major social media sites, has been permanently shut down, his spokesperson confirmed Wednesday. The move signals a potential shift toward a new social media venture.
Trump’s team pulled the plug on the blog, dubbed “From the Desk of Donald J. Trump,” after it failed to gain significant traction. Data from BuzzSumo, cited by NBC News, showed the site attracted minimal engagement compared to his former Twitter and Facebook followings, which numbered in the tens of millions before his removal.
Spokesman Jason Miller declined to provide specifics but hinted at broader plans. “Yes, actually, it is a precursor to him joining another social media platform,” Miller wrote online, urging followers to “stay tuned.”
The blog’s closure comes after Trump and his allies repeatedly accused mainstream platforms like Facebook and Twitter of anti-conservative bias. Both companies banned Trump following the January 6 Capitol riot, during which he spread unfounded claims of election fraud.
Initially promoted as a “communications platform,” the blog was later downplayed by Miller, who clarified it was merely a hub for Trump’s statements. Since leaving office, Trump has relied on surrogates, his PAC (Save America), and friendly media outlets to disseminate his messages.
Despite his limited public appearances, Trump remains politically active, recently attacking Arizona GOP Gov. Doug Ducey as a “RINO” (Republican In Name Only) for vetoing a bill targeting critical race theory training.
The blog’s short lifespan underscores Trump’s ongoing challenge in replicating his social media reach—a hurdle his next venture may aim to overcome.
