Google’s AI Updates Mark the End of Traditional SEO

It’s ironic but true: Google has effectively delivered the final blow to traditional SEO. This isn’t a mistake or a surprise—it’s the result of an inevitable shift.

Despite this, there’s hope for creators and businesses willing to adapt. If you cling to outdated SEO methods, you’ll struggle, but embracing new strategies centered on meaning and purpose can still succeed.

Last year, I nearly stopped writing because the internet and its algorithms seemed to suppress genuine helpful content. But instead of giving up, I rebelled against the system by writing content designed to avoid being found by typical SEO crawlers. This “#Bananamode” tactic actually boosted my readership by over 400%, proving the old SEO rules no longer apply.

The reality is, SEO was already a tired practice filled with keyword-stuffed, low-value content aimed mostly at pushing products like phone cases and dubious loans. AI didn’t kill SEO; SEO was already on life support. Now AI serves users with summarized content that often buries traditional search links.

That said, publishers who focus on unique, branded content—like opinion columns and live blogs—are starting to find new success. The choice is clear: adapt or fall behind.
